Falae, Ezeife, others plan to revive SDP

A former presidential candidate of the All Peoples Party during the 1999 elections, Chief Olusola Falae; a former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Emeka Ezeife, and some politicians have met to resuscitate the defunct Social Democratic Party.
The party was the platform used by the late business mogul, Chief M.K.O. Abiola, to contest the 1993 presidential election, which he won but its outcome was annulled by the military government headed by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.
The Falae group meeting was said to have been held in Abuja on Tuesday and that members of the party would participate in the 2015 general elections.
It was not clear if the Independent National Electoral Commission has registered the new party, but our correspondent gathered that the new party would be inaugurated in Abuja on August 21.
In a communique signed by the interim National Secretary of the party, Dr. Abubakar  Gombe, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the group said was determined to review the SDP manifesto to ensure that all the current challenges, facing the country, were adequately addressed.
