Lebanese Businessmen Open Defence In Day 4 Of Terrorism Trial

 




The three accused Lebanese businessmen have opened their defence with the third accused person, Mister Talal Ahmad Roda as its first witness in what passes as the fourth day of trial for terrorism charges brought against them by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Mister Roda told the court under cross examination that he had Hezbollah training under the guidance of the civil defence in Lebanon during the occupation of the south of Lebanon by Israel in 1994.
He also admitted seeing AK 47 machine guns at number 3 Gaya road Kano state and that firearms belonged to one mister Abdulhassan Tahir, the owner of the property who told him that they were licensed weapons.
He also corroborated his statement to the Department of State Service, that mister tahir told him of plans to assassinate the ambassador of Saudi Arabia and bomb the embassy, but claims he did not believe the story.
He however told the court that he had never seen the weapons tendered as evidence before the court by the prosecution.
A defence his counsel Ahmed Raji says shows he had no knowledge of the weapons before the court or had any terrorist intentions.
But the director of public prosecution, Simeon Igede who cross examined the accused person, told journalists that the testimonies by the accused person only goes to show that he had a case to answer.
